Welcome to Southwater U3A

Southwater U3A (University of the Third Age) is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment.

We offer leisure, creative and educational opportunities in a friendly environment. The way we do this is by drawing upon the knowledge, experience and skills of our own members to organise and provide interest groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership.

Four times per year we hold Members' Meetings (noted in the diary section) at which we have guest speakers. Past presentation subjects include Living in Japan, Christ's Hospital and Drive to Survive. All entertaining, informative and very enjoyable.

Our Interest Groups currently include Garden Visits, History, Theatre and Cinema, Exploring Towns and Villages, Card Craft, Scrabble, German, Computing, Family History and a Book Group. There's always room for more! What other groups would you like to see?

The U3A approach to learning is - learning for pleasure. There is no accreditation or validation, no horrible exams or tests and no assessments or qualifications to be gained. Despite being called "University", we are not some stuffy organisation and nor are we packed with partying students (although that could possibly e rranged if we want to).

Southwater U3A is part of a national organisation across the UK, is a charity and is run entirely by volunteers.

If you would like to join us, please see the Contact Us page on the left for details of whom to talk to..
